Today(on 10th July), The Supreme Court paused a Gujarat High Court directive requiring the state government to reclaim 108 hectares of grazing land allotted to Adani Ports in 2005, providing relief to APSEZ. The bench, led by Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan, issued a notice to the Gujarat government following APSEZ’s appeal to stay the High Court’s order.
The Gujarat High Court was informed on Friday that the state plans to reclaim about 108 hectares of grazing land from Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd, allocated in 2005. Villagers had contested the allocation, arguing that it left them with insufficient grazing land. The state has committed to replenishing 129 hectares of land for the village’s use.
The Supreme Court has permitted the NIA to transfer a heroin smuggling case from Hoshiarpur to a special NIA court in Ahmedabad linked to the Mundra port drug haul. The NIA argued that consolidating the cases would streamline the trial process. This decision comes after the Ministry of Home Affairs transferred the probe to the NIA.
