Delhi High Court Allows MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh to Attend Parliament In-Custody

New Delhi, March 26: The Delhi High Court has permitted Jammu and Kashmir MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh, who is in jail for a terror funding case, to attend the ongoing Parliament session under police escort. A bench of Justices Chandra Dhari Singh and Anup Jairam Bhambhani ruled that Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid, will be taken to Parliament by the police and brought back to jail each day from March 26 to April 4. The court specified that during this period, he will not be allowed to use a mobile phone, landline, or speak to the media.

Today, On 11th February, The Delhi High Court scheduled the bail plea of Jammu and Kashmir MP Engineer Rashid for hearing on February 24 in a case filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). This comes after the Supreme Court clarified that the High Court could proceed with his bail application. Rashid, who was elected as an MP while in custody, is facing charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). His plea challenges the denial of bail in the alleged terror funding case.
