New Delhi: 25th March, A three-member committee, appointed by the Supreme Court, has started an inquiry into the alleged discovery of cash at the official residence of Delhi High Court judge, Justice Yashwant Varma. The committee members reached his residence on Tuesday and carried out an inspection, sources said.
Delhi High Court Chief Justice D K Upadhyay submitted a report regarding alleged cash found at Justice Yashwant Varma’s residence after a fire incident. The Supreme Court collegium will review the findings and may take further action. The court clarified that Justice Varma’s transfer is unrelated to the inquiry.
NEW DELHI: A fire broke out at the official residence of Delhi High Court Justice Yashwant Varma on the night of March 14. The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) quickly responded to the emergency and put out the fire within minutes. The department clarified that no cash was found during the operation.
The Supreme Court of India mandated the Central Government to implement a 2022 scheme for cashless medical treatment of motor accident victims within the critical “golden hour.” Additionally, the court urged the General Insurance Council to establish an online portal by March 14, 2025, to expedite compensation claims for hit-and-run victims.
