Today (9th May) Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit, a defendant in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, alleged that Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officers coerced him to confess and implicated senior right-wing leaders. He claimed he was tortured and falsely accused, with witnesses being coerced. Purohit also accused the ATS of planting evidence and named individuals involved in his interrogation.
Today, 8th April, BJP MP Pragya Thakur, facing accusations in the 2008 Malegaon blast case granted a day’s exemption from court appearance due to illness. The NIA compliance report confirmed her health condition and the need for rest. Despite concerns, the court mandated her presence for a statement on April 20. Thakur consistent in seeking exemption citing health issues.
Friday (on March 22) The special court cancelled the warrant against BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur in the Malegaon Blast Case due to her ill health and reliance on supportive aid. Her lawyer submitted a medical certificate, leading the court to cancel the warrant. She is mandated to appear in court for further proceedings on March 28. The case originates from the 2008 Malegaon bomb explosions.
The NIA court has ordered BJP MLA Pragya Thakur to attend the ongoing trial for the 2008 Malegaon blast case from February 27 onwards. Thakur, along with six others, faces charges under UAPA and IPC. The court warned of necessary actions if she fails to comply, emphasizing the significance of her presence.
