NEW DELHI: Today, 28th Feb, The Supreme Court of India granted pre-arrest bail to Satish Chandra Verma, former Advocate General of Chhattisgarh, in connection with the Nagrik Apurti Nigam (NAN) scam case. The decision was made on Friday by a bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta, who also directed Verma to fully cooperate in the investigation.
Today, On 27th November, Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani defended the Adani Group against U.S. court allegations, labeling them “sketchy” and questioning their timing before the parliamentary session. He stated there is no evidence linking Gautam Adani or executives to wrongdoing, criticizing Congress for politicizing the issue without substantiating claims of bribery or legal violations.
The Supreme Court criticized the Calcutta High Court’s denial of bail to an SPES trustee during the Birla-Lodha group conflict, describing it as a “shocking state of affairs”. The case, involving influential private entities, has been highlighted as emblematic of a broader issue. The bench directed the Bengal police to present the trustee before the trial court for bail consideration.
