Justice Manoj Misra, born on June 2, 1965, graduated from the University of Allahabad in 1988 and began his legal career at the Allahabad High Court. After 23 years in practice, he became an Additional Judge in 2011 and a Permanent Judge in 2013. He was appointed as a Supreme Court Judge on February 6, 2023.

Speaking at a Supreme Court conference, he noted that this shift reflects India’s expanding legal talent pool, including women, in the field.
The Supreme Court Collegium recommended the permanent elevation of five additional judges at the Allahabad High Court, including Justice Saurabh Srivastava, Justice Om Prakash Shukla, Justice Mohd. Azhar Husain Idrisi, Justice Jyotsna Sharma, and Justice Surendra Singh-I. This decision follows a thorough review process, demonstrating their exceptional legal proficiency and commitment.
