In the Land-for-Jobs case, a Delhi court rapped an advocate for seeking adjournment citing lawyers’ strike, calling the ground “entirely self-serving and completely unexceptional”.
NEW DELHI: Today, 25th Feb, A Delhi court has asked former Union Rail Minister Lalu Prasad to appear in connection with the land-for-jobs case. Special Judge Vishal Gogne has also called Prasad’s son, former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav, and his daughter Hema Yadav to the court.
A Delhi court Today (Oct 7) granted bail to RJD chief and former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and his sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav in the land-for-jobs money laundering case. Special Judge Vishal Gogne granted the relief to the accused persons on a personal bond of Rs one lakh each, noting that they were not arrested during the investigation. The accused appeared before the court in pursuance to summons issued to them by the court earlier.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been granted a two-week extension by the court to file the conclusive charge sheet in the “Land-for-Jobs” case, which involves allegations of exchanging land parcels for job appointments within the railways during 2004-2009. The case implicates prominent figures and highlights concerns over corruption and nepotism in public service appointments.
In October last year, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi granted bail to Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Tejashwi Yadav related to this case. They made an appearance in the CBI special court in response to the summons served to them.
