Today, On 28th January, The Chief Justice of India (CJI) agreed to consider an urgent hearing for a plea accusing Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh of involvement in organizing violence in the state. The petition seeks a court-monitored investigation by an SIT into leaked audio clips allegedly implicating the CM.
KOHUR has urged for an investigation into Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s alleged involvement in ethnic violence against the Kuki community, providing a leaked audio as evidence. The violence stemmed from tensions between the Meitei and Kuki communities, exacerbated by discriminatory policies and a court ruling. Over 140 deaths and 60,000 displacements have occurred, further fueling demands for a separate Kuki state.
