A Delhi court Today (Oct 18) granted bail to AAP leader and former Delhi cabinet minister Satyendar Jain in a money laundering case, citing “delay in trial” and his “long incarceration”. Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on May 30, 2022, on the charge of laundering money through four companies allegedly linked to him. He is currently in judicial custody.

The Supreme Court Today (Sept 27) adjourned for September 30 a plea by AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi CM Atishi which challenged the Delhi High Court’s refusal to quash a criminal defamation case by BJP leader Rajeev Babbar. The case was filed over their remarks on the alleged deletion of voter names from electoral roll in national capital in 2018.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail after the Supreme Court granted him bail in a CBI case related to an excise policy scam. The court stressed the need for the CBI to be impartial and criticized its image as a “caged parrot.” Kejriwal’s release was met with support from the Aam Aadmi Party and followers.
Today, On 13th September, The BJP demanded Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation following the Supreme Court’s statement on the legality of his arrest, claiming he no longer has the moral authority to hold a constitutional position. The Court reiterated that “bail is the rule, and jail an exception,” while questioning the timing and manner of Kejriwal’s arrest by the CBI.
Today, On 2nd September, The Delhi High Court rejected Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi’s plea to dismiss a defamation case filed by BJP leader Rajiv Babbar. The case stemmed from alleged defamatory statements made by AAP leaders about the deletion of voters’ names. The court emphasized the importance of accurate information in democracy and ruled in favor of allowing the defamation case to proceed.
