The Supreme Court Today (August 6th) told Indian Medical Association (IMA) President Dr. RV Asokan that he has to publish apology in all prominent newspapers for his statements criticising the Supreme Court. A Bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Sandeep Mehta also said that the same should be done by him personally and not on IMA’s behalf and the expenses for the same should be borne out of his own pocket.

The Supreme Court Today (July 30th) suggested that the AYUSH Ministry should create a centralised dashboard to publicise and track the progress of complaints filed against misleading advertisements on medicinal or allied healthcare products. The Court was hearing a case filed against Patanjali Ayurved and its promoters, Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna for publishing misleading ads targeting allopathic medicine.

Ramdev-Patanjali Ayurved, Today (April 23rd) during a hearing in the Supreme Court over the misleading ads, said it had published an apology in 67 newspapers, asserting it had the utmost respect for the court and their mistakes would not be repeated. Court asked if the size of the apology put out in newspapers by Patanjali was similar to full-page advertisements for its products.

Yoga guru Ramdev appeared in person to face the Supreme Court Today (April 2nd) over Patanjali Ayurved’s “misleading advertisements”. The Apex Court earlier issued a directive summoning Baba Ramdev to appear personally before the court as he had not filed a response to a show cause notice in the contempt proceedings initiated against Patanjali Ayurveda.
Patanjali Ayurved and Acharya Balkrishna on Wednesday apologized unconditionally to the Supreme Court for their contentious advertisements targeting evidence-based medicine, assuring not to repeat such campaigns. They emphasized the intention to promote Ayurveda for a healthier lifestyle. The Court had warned Patanjali in 2023, and recently mandated the personal attendance of Baba Ramdev and Balkrishna for the ongoing case.
