The decision came after the court observed that two rounds of discussions already taken place between the Central government and the protesting farmers. The farmers have put forward several demands, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) on crops.
NEW DELHI: The Punjab government informed the Supreme Court on Wednesday(22nd Jan) that farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on an indefinite fast, has started taking medical assistance, which has improved his health condition. Dallewal has been fasting as part of the ongoing farmers’ protests demanding a minimum support price (MSP) for crops.

Today(on 2nd September),The Supreme Court appointed a committee led by Justice Nawab Singh to resolve the grievances of protesting farmers at Shambhu border and directed it to hold its first meeting within a week. The Court emphasized that the farmers’ issues should be addressed in a phased manner without politicization, and allowed farmers to relocate their peaceful protests if desired.
