Today, On 9th July, The Supreme Court highlighted public unawareness of the increased age of consent for sexual intercourse, now raised to 18 years from 16. Challenges in enforcing the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act were noted, particularly in cases of consensual relationships involving young girls. This lack of awareness necessitates focused educational initiatives to address the issue.
