Rathee is accused of labeling Nakhua as a “violent and abusive” troll in a video, leading to widespread condemnation and ridicule against him. The next hearing is scheduled for August 6.
The Supreme Court, today led by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, has taken up a petition from a female employee accusing West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose of molestation. The court is examining the immunity granted to governors under Article 361 of the Constitution, which shields them from criminal prosecution. The petitioner seeks clear guidelines governing governors’ immunity from prosecution.
The Supreme Court today extended the stay on notices summoning West Bengal officials until July 19 due to the unavailability of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. The notices were related to an alleged breach of privilege by them regarding their response to a complaint filed by a BJP MP. The court will continue addressing the plea on July 19.
