Today, On 16th January, Supreme Court rejected Justice Yashwant Varma’s plea against the Lok Sabha Speaker’s decision to set up a three-member inquiry committee under the Judges Inquiry Act. The Bench delivered its ruling after reserving judgment on January 8, and declined interference.
Allahabad High Court judge Justice Yashwant Varma told a Parliamentary panel that no cash was found at his New Delhi residence during the March 2025 fire and clarified he was not present when the incident occurred.
Justice Ajit Kumar of the Allahabad High Court ruled that lawyer strikes should not prevent litigants from accessing justice. The court directed the district administration to ensure police protection for litigants arguing their cases during such strikes. The dismissal of a writ petition emphasized that no lawyer can obstruct judicial duties or litigant access to courts.
Today (10th Dec): The Supreme Court has taken note of remarks made by Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav of the Allahabad High Court during a December 8 event organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s legal cell.
The apex court, on its administrative side, has sought details and particulars from the High Court regarding the matter, which is currently under consideration.
