NEW DELHI: J Deepa, the niece of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, has approached the Supreme Court, asking for the return of her late aunt’s confiscated properties. She has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) challenging a Karnataka High Court order that refused to release Jayalalithaa’s assets to her.
A special court in Karnataka has announced that 27 kg of gold and diamond jewelry, vital evidence in the disproportionate assets case involving former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, will be handed over to the Tamil Nadu government on March 6 and 7. The move aims to fulfill the Rs 100 crore fine imposed on her, with directives for disposal and trial expenses also issued.
