Sharjeel Imam Today (Mar 27) approached the Delhi High Court to quash charges framed against him in the 2019 Anti-CAA protest case. The court has issued notice and scheduled the next hearing for April 24.
Sharjeel Imam told the Delhi High Court that he is being prosecuted twice for the same speech linked to the 2020 riots. Today, On 13th July, The Supreme Court sought responses from four states on the transfer of Sharjeel Imam’s trials to Delhi. Imam, facing charges of sedition and promoting enmity, seeks consolidation of FIRs from multiple states. The Court aims to centralize the cases for a fair and efficient trial process, considering the states’ input.
