Madras: In an unexpected move, two judges of the Madras High Court made a surprise visit to Puzhal Central Prison, located on the outskirts of Chennai, on Wednesday. Justices MS Ramesh and N Senthil Kumar spent nearly three hours inside the prison, carefully inspecting the facilities, speaking to inmates, and assessing the overall living conditions.
Pradipsingh Murlidharsingh Thakur, initially sentenced to death for murdering his pregnant wife, had his sentence commuted to life imprisonment by the Bombay High Court, which determined the case wasn’t among the “rarest of the rare.” The court later directed the review of his eligibility for remission, despite state opposition based on his police status.
Today, On 11th November, Tihar Jail authorities informed the Delhi High Court that Yasin Malik ended his hunger strike on November 8 and is receiving medical care. He sought treatment at AIIMS or a super-specialty hospital. The next hearing is scheduled for November 18, with the court directing that appropriate care be ensured.
