The cancellation was due to the absence of a no-objection certificate from the West Bengal government. On 27th March: Former Indian Police Service (IPS) Officer Sanjiv Bhatt has been convicted by a Gujarat court in a 28-year-old drug planting case dating back to 1996. The case involved accusations of framing a Rajasthan-based lawyer, and Bhatt’s plea challenging trial completion time was dismissed by the Supreme Court. Previously, he had also been convicted in a custodial death case from 1990.
