The Election Commission of India directed the removal of a disputed BJP video in Jharkhand for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct amid assembly elections. The BJP complied but was asked for an explanation due to complaints from rival parties regarding the video’s misleading and communal content.
Shashi Tharoor urged for a government-appointed commission to investigate the protests at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, where students are demanding the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor over sexist remarks and an intrusive inspection. He emphasized the need for an impartial inquiry to ensure students’ rights and a respectful academic atmosphere.
Dr. Anshu Kataria of PUCA indicated that around 2.33 million students are impacted by a Supreme Court case regarding NEET, which has led the Punjab Unaided Colleges Association to request an extension of admission cut-off dates. Currently, technical college admissions are halted, affecting numerous applicants amid ongoing delays and unrest.
Today (March 22) The Delhi High Court dismissed three INC petitions contesting tax reassessment by the IT Department. The Division Bench addressed all arguments but one about the timing of reassessment initiation. Congress can present its case before the March 31 deadline. The dispute arose when the IT Department froze four bank accounts, demanding Rs 210 crores.
