NHRC Directs Haryana Animal Welfare Board to Investigate 5 Lakh Child Dog Bite Cases in 2024, Seeks Report in Four Weeks

Haryana: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the Animal Welfare Board, Haryana, to investigate the rising dog bite cases in the state and submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) within four weeks. The issue gained attention after a news article highlighted government data presented in the Lok Sabha by the Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying.

NEW DELHI: The Noida District Court has expressed a serious concern about the state of the ladies’ washroom at the District and Sessions Court in Surajpur, Noida. A pool of blood, sanitary napkins soaked in blood, overflowing dustbins, no hand wash soaps, and incessantly spilling water from taps were some of the issues reported.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday (Dec 18) emphasized that establishing Gram Nyayalayas cannot follow a nationwide formula due to varying state needs. It directed states to submit affidavits on judicial infrastructure in response to a plea advocating for enhanced access to justice. The court highlighted successful implementations in some states and scheduled follow-ups.
