Yesterday, On 7th October, the Bombay High Court mandated departmental action against a Mumbai Magistrate for approving the detention of a man without documented justification. The court criticized the lack of legal compliance, stating magistrates must ensure arrests are founded on facts. The state was ordered to compensate Rs. 25,000 to the detained individual.
Yesterday, On 27th June, The Karnataka High Court raised concerns about senior police officers not being investigated in the Bitcoin scam while granting bail to a DSP-rank officer. The officers are accused of embezzling 31 Bitcoins valued at Rs 9 crore, which were reportedly seized from a hacker through unauthorized means. The SIT is investigating further.
On Thursday(6th June),Former Punjab Police officials, DIG Dilbagh Singh and DSP Gurbachan Singh, were convicted in a 1993 fake encounter case by Judge RK Gupta in Mohali, marking 31 years since the incident. The case originated from the unlawful custody and subsequent killing of Gulshan Kumar, leading to a significant triumph for justice. The sentencing is scheduled for today.
