Delhi High Court Pulls Up Govt, Police Over No SOP for School Bomb Threats Despite Orders

The Delhi High Court has issued notices to the Delhi government and police for failing to implement an action plan addressing bomb threats in schools. Concerns were raised over repeated hoax threats disturbing students and their families. The court scheduled a follow-up hearing on May 19, 2025, urging authorities to ensure safety protocols.

Bomb Threats in NCR Schools|  Delhi Police Deploy 5 Bomb Disposal and 18 Detection Teams

On 17th May, The Delhi Police responded to bomb threat concerns in schools by deploying bomb disposal squads and detection teams, conducting 120 mock drills, and issuing comprehensive guidelines. They have a total of 5 bomb disposal squads and 18 bomb detection teams to cover over 4,600 schools. The Directorate of Education is also actively involved in promoting school safety.

Today (6th May): The Delhi High Court has demanded a detailed report from the Delhi Police and government on measures taken to ensure safe school evacuations during bomb threats. Stressing the need for tailored Standard Operating Procedures for schools, the court also seeks information on drill frequency, response times, and the handling of hoax calls. The deadline for the report is within ten days.
