Today, On 11th April, The Calcutta High Court has dismissed a plea seeking permission to hold a Hanuman Chalisa recital at Kolkata’s Red Road. The court emphasized that the petitioner must first establish a legal right to conduct such events in public spaces. It also stressed the importance of maintaining public order and secular principles.
The Delhi High Court said that old incidents of violence should not be the only reason to stop religious events like the Hanuman Jayanti procession in Jahangirpuri. The Court told Delhi Police to look into the matter and decide fairly. It also said that proper safety steps can be taken to allow such events peacefully.
