A PIL has been filed before the Supreme Court of India seeking creation of a revenue judicial service, arguing that unqualified officials are deciding land disputes and requesting mandatory legal qualifications and training for officers adjudicating such matters.
The Madras High Court sharply criticised TN Minister S. Reghupathy for his remark on the Thiruparankundram Karthigai Deepam issue, saying, “I conclude that Thiru. Ragupathy has given a mischievous political spin to the turn of events.”
The Madhya Pradesh High Court ruled that officials cannot insist on a succession certificate for compassionate appointments, holding that the policy clearly gives the deceased employee’s wife priority over other relatives. The Court said the brother has no preferential claim.
Justice G R Swaminathan of the Madurai Bench expressed anguish over repeatedly summoning officials for contempt. He said citing law and order to defy court orders is unacceptable and reflects a serious breakdown of the legal framework system.
