The Supreme Court will on Tuesday hear Congress leader Girish Chodankar’s plea challenging the merger of eight Congress MLAs with the BJP in Goa, questioning the High Court’s approval of the Speaker’s dismissal of disqualification proceedings.
Today, On 6th January, The Supreme Court has set aside a cheating case against Goa MLA Jit Arolkar. A Bench of Justices A.S. Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan allowed Arolkar’s appeal, reversing the Bombay High Court’s decision, which had refused to dismiss the case. The cheating allegations were earlier filed against Arolkar. With this ruling, the matter stands resolved.
Today, 9th April, The Delhi HC dismissed Arvind Kejriwal’s appeal against his ED arrest, citing evidence of his involvement in concealing proceeds of crime and utilizing them for political campaigns. The court addressed his arguments, including the reliability of statements and political motivations, emphasizing that the case should be evaluated based on legal grounds, not electoral timelines or political considerations.
