Ganga Pollution|| “A Compliance Report Must Be Submitted Within 2 Months”: SC Stays NGT Order for Criminal Prosecution Against Uttarakhand Officials

Today, On 6th September, the Supreme Court granted temporary relief to Uttarakhand government officials by suspending legal action ordered by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) over their failure to curb Ganga River pollution. The court also issued a notice to the central government to examine the matter. The next hearing is scheduled for December.

[Plastic Waste Dumping in Rivers & Water Bodies] Supreme Court Raises Concern

The Supreme Court expressed concern over the disposal of plastic waste in riverbanks and water bodies, emphasizing the environmental threat it poses. The Court instructed government bodies to address the issue and submit an affidavit within four weeks. Additionally, the Court ordered the removal of unauthorized constructions near the Ganga River in Patna.
