NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court, on Monday, January 27, 2025, announced that it would appoint an independent observer for the Chandigarh mayoral election scheduled for January 30.
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court of India, on Wednesday (15th Jan) issued a notice to the Central Government and the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding a petition filed by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh. The petition challenges the recent amendments made to the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961, which limit citizens’ rights to access election-related records.
Today, On 30th August, The Delhi High Court rejected the request to postpone MCD ward panel elections, prompting AAP councillors to withdraw their pleas. The court stated it does not have the authority to intervene in the election schedule set by the MCD commissioner. This decision allows the elections to proceed as planned on September 4.
