The Supreme Court of India remarked during a bail hearing that Vanuatu was not a country, questioning accused’s origin as Siddhartha Dave cited client’s nationality. A bench of Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta, and NV Anjaria examined IPC charges carefully.
Today, On 1st December, The Supreme Court granted bail to a man accused of cheating by pretending to be Amit Shah’s nephew, noting he has already spent years in custody while the trial has barely progressed. The bench said the case’s slow pace justified granting bail now.
Tahawwur Rana, wanted for his role in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, is battling extradition to India. His attorney has petitioned the US Supreme Court to reconsider earlier court decisions based on double jeopardy claims, arguing it pertains to the same conduct. The Supreme Court will address this matter on January 17.
