Today(on 5th August),The Supreme Court took suo motu cognisance of the deaths of three civil services aspirants in a coaching centre, seeking responses from the Centre and Delhi government. Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan criticized coaching centres as “death chambers” and stressed the need for strict safety compliance.
The Gujarat High Court today, criticized the Rajkot Municipal Corporation after a tragic fire at a gaming zone caused 28 deaths. The court expressed disbelief in the state’s ability to prevent such disasters and questioned the government’s inaction despite previous court orders. The facility’s lack of safety measures and regulatory compliance were highlighted. Investigations, arrests, and compensations are underway.
On Friday(5th April), The Delhi High Court mandated an inspection of Mukherjee Nagar coaching centers, emphasizing safety regulations. A specialized team, including legal experts and fire service personnel, will assess operational status and safety measures. The court’s proactive stance reflects the critical importance of safety in educational institutions and aims to enhance safety standards in the region.
