Today, On 6th May, The Central Government told the Delhi High Court that the Indian embassy in Indonesia is giving full help, including legal aid, to three Indian citizens who are facing the death penalty for drug-related charges.
India’s Central government has confirmed that it does not currently have plans to regulate third-party litigation funding. In response to a parliamentary question posed by Mohammed Nadimul Haque, a Rajya Sabha member from the Trinamool Congress, the government made it clear that it is not considering any regulatory framework to manage third-party funding of legal cases.
Dr. Mohankumar, accused of money laundering related to securing a medical seat for a public servant’s daughter, had his discharge application rejected by the Karnataka High Court. The court emphasized that evidence collected warranted proceeding with the trial, finding unexplained cash deposits raised significant suspicions. The case will continue.
