In a historic verdict, a Bengal court sentenced 9 people to life imprisonment in India’s first digital arrest conviction. Officials called it a “landmark moment” as the entire trial concluded within just eight months of the incident.
In the Andhra Pradesh Liquor Scam case, the Supreme Court refused to grant bail to YSRCP MP Midhun Reddy, stating, “Nature of the allegations necessitates custodial interrogation. This Court cannot offer a shield in such circumstances.”
In August last year, the shocking rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata drew statewide attention. However, months before this tragic incident, the hospital’s former principal, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, was already under investigation by the West Bengal Human Rights Commission (WBHRC).
During the hearing, the special CBI judge questioned the agency for not providing all documents to Sandip Ghosh. However, the judge also scolded Ghosh’s lawyer, stating, “We’re not here to find faults with either side.This is not a political platform where you can raise your voice. You cannot speak like this against an agency. Submit your concerns in writing.” The court maintained that legal arguments must follow proper procedures.
Today, On 6th December, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar announced an investigation after currency notes were found on MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi’s seat during a routine check. Singhvi expressed disbelief, citing his brief presence in the House. He called for cooperation in investigating the incident and addressing security concerns.
The Chhattisgarh High Court ruled that a lawyer cannot be held criminally liable for financial losses to a bank without evidence of intent to defraud. Today, On 11th November, the Bombay High Court granted permanent medical bail to Naresh Goyal, founder of Jet Airways, in a money laundering case. Earlier, he received interim bail for cancer treatment. The court acknowledged Goyal’s critical health condition, prioritizing his right to medical care while legal proceedings against him continue.

They also refused to halt live proceedings despite concerns raised by the West Bengal government. The Court stressed the need to protect the victim’s identity and instructed Wikipedia to remove sensitive information. Additionally, the CBI was asked to submit a status report on the financial irregularities in medical departments. The case involves the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor, leading to multiple unresolved questions and investigations into potential corruption and evidence tampering.
