The Kerala High Court Today (Sept 10) called for a feminist perspective to be factored in while drafting laws to deal with sexual harassment at workplace. The Bench made the observation while hearing matters concerning the Justice K Hema committee report on the working conditions of women in the film industry.
“kya darling challan karne aayi hai kya?” | The Calcutta High Court ruled that addressing an unknown woman as ‘darling’ constitutes sexual harassment under Section 354A IPC. The court upheld the conviction of a man who, while inebriated, made a sexually colored remark to a lady police officer. The court emphasized that such behavior is offensive, and modified the punishment to one month imprisonment.
The Supreme Court has directed the inclusion of a woman judicial officer in committees overseeing women inmates in each West Bengal district.
