The Supreme Court on Wednesday (27th Nov) directed Ashish Mishra to submit an affidavit addressing allegations of witness intimidation in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. Mishra, accused of killing farmers during a 2021 protest, denied the charges, with the Court noting photographic evidence. The trial, closely monitored by the Supreme Court, is ongoing.
Kangana Ranaut has been summoned by an MP-MLA court in Uttar Pradesh over allegedly incendiary remarks about the 2020-21 farmers’ protests. The Bharatiya Kisan Union filed the complaint, asserting Ranaut labeled protesters violent and criminal. Her court appearance is scheduled for October 25. The BJP has distanced itself from her controversial statements.
