Aarti, the estranged wife of Ravi Mohan, has sought Rs.40 lakh as monthly alimony. Meanwhile, Ravi Mohan has once again claimed in the Chennai Family Court that he has already granted her a divorce.
The High Court emphasized the need to address the societal implications of live-in relationships, stating, “It is high time we consider and establish a framework to uphold the moral values of society.” The court highlighted growing concerns over the impact of such relationships on traditional norms. It called for a collective effort to find solutions that balance individual freedoms with cultural ethics.
The Supreme Court upheld life sentences for a husband and mother-in-law in the murder of a woman who sustained 100% burns. The court rejected claims of suicide, emphasizing implausibility and circumstantial evidence pointing to the appellants’ culpability. Their failure to assist and the presence of kerosene cans were also highlighted.
