Uttar Pradesh Police Failure: Supreme Court Refuses To Entertain Plea Against Yati Narsinghanand’s Dharam Sansad

The Supreme Court Today (Dec 19) refused to entertain a plea alleging failure of Uttar Pradesh Police to act against the Dharam Sansad slated to be organized by Yati Narasinghanand and others in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad this week. The contempt of court petition filed by a group of civil society members including former bureaucrats was heard by a Bench of Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar.

“You Made No Meaningful Effort”: SC Sharply Criticized CAQM For Failure To Take Action Against Stubble Burning

The Supreme Court Today (Oct 3) slammed the Commission for Air Quality Management for failing to control incidents of stubble burning and said it has made no effort to implement its direction to prevent such incidents. A bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih said CAQM has not launched a single prosecution against incidents of stubble burning in the National Capital Region and adjoining areas.

A Pune court acquitted 3-individuals in the Dr. Narendra Dabholkar murder case, emphasizing that both the police and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) must reflect on their failure to identify the mastermind behind the crime. Dr. Dabholkar, the founder of Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, was fatally shot by two assailants on a motorcycle during his morning walk in Pune on August 20, 2013.
