Today, On 4th April, The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has approached the Delhi High Court challenging the rejection of its ad-hoc panel for the Bihar Olympic Association. The plea seeks reconsideration of the decision and a fresh start to the management process. The IOA’s counsel suggested restarting the procedure from the formation of a fact-finding committee. The court has scheduled the next hearing to allow the counsel to finalize instructions.
A two-member fact-finding committee from the National Commission for Women has arrived in Chennai to investigate a reported sexual assault of a 19-year-old Anna University student. The committee, comprising Mamta Kumari and Praveen Dixit, will examine the incident, gather information from various parties, and recommend preventive measures. An ongoing police investigation follows a formal complaint.
The Supreme Court of India on Thursday (6th Dec) set aside a National Green Tribunal order that fined M/s Govardhan Mines and Minerals Rs 3 crore for illegal stone mining in Haryana. The Chief Justice noted that the NGT did not adequately consider the mining company’s arguments, which were based on alleged inaccuracies in the committee’s report.
