Today (2nd May): The Supreme Court directed that one-third of SCBA posts must be reserved for women. For the current year, three executive members, two senior executive members, and the treasurer must be women. This aims to promote gender inclusivity and diversity within the association. The directive builds on a plea for gender representation. Elections for the 2024-25 term are scheduled for May 16th.
The Supreme Court Advocates-On-Record Association (SCAORA) condemned its secretary’s baseless allegations on March 13. In response, Vice President Snehashish Mukherjee will now handle official communications. The secretary, Devvrat, made false claims about the Election Committee for upcoming SCAORA elections. This led to the Executive Committee issuing a formal rebuke. The SCAORA has set its 2024 elections for April 29.
