Today, On 4th February, The Supreme Court sought responses from the Centre and other parties on a petition challenging the recent decision of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences to sharply reduce the qualifying cut-off percentiles for NEET PG 2025-26.
The NLU Odisha administration called the ongoing student protests “illegal” and accused the students of using “arm-twisting” tactics. The students started an indefinite protest, saying the administration has failed to solve their long-standing problems. They claim their issues have been ignored, forcing them to take this step. The administration’s statement has added to the tension between both sides.
The Supreme Court’s August 2 order found insufficient evidence to support a systemic leak or malpractice in the NEET-UG 2024 examination, leading to a denial of the request for a retest. A review plea has been filed seeking reconsideration of this decision. The Court expanded the K. Radhakrishnan expert committee’s mandate to strengthen the examination process by implementing various measures.
