During the hearing, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) expressed strong disapproval of the plea. He questioned the Congress lawyers, asking if they were seeking to prevent the swearing-in of a duly elected government. The CJI sternly remarked, “You want me to stop the oath of an elected government? I’ll impose costs on you,” criticizing the basis of the plea.

When pointed out that with 1,490 such machines, the cost of preserving them would come to around Rs 6 crore, Bharti informed the court that he doesn’t “have that kind of money.”
