Advocate has moved the High Court challenging the Maharashtra government’s cancellation of the 5% Muslim quota, calling the decision unjustified. The plea alleges state is practicing racial discrimination against the Muslim community, violating fundamental rights guaranteed under Constitution of India.
Today, On 19th February, The Delhi High Court dismissed a review petition filed by former West Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay. The petition had challenged the court’s 2022 decision upholding the CAT Chairman’s order to transfer his case from Kolkata Bench to Delhi.
The Supreme Court ruled that equity cannot override a testator’s clear intent, upholding a registered will that excluded one daughter. The Court reaffirmed that a validly proved will must prevail over claims of fairness.
The Supreme Court said that land compensation should be based on principles of equity, justice, and fairness. The case involved land acquired in April 2008 for developing the Chaudhary Devi Lal Industrial Model Township.
Today, On 7th April, BJP MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato has written a letter to the Chief Justice of India, raising concerns over attacks on the judiciary by the West Bengal Government. He praised the Supreme Court’s decision in the SSC scam case and called it a big relief for lakhs of students. Mahato strongly criticised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for disrespecting the judiciary in public. He said, “Smt. Mamata Banerjee’s pattern of undermining judicial authority is now unmistakable.”
