Today, On 14th January, The Delhi High Court heard Tahir Hussain’s plea seeking interim bail to contest the upcoming assembly elections. The police opposed the plea, arguing that the right to contest elections is not a fundamental right. Hussain is accused of being the mastermind and funder of the Delhi riots. The High Court has reserved its decision on the matter.

Supreme Court Rejects Dentist’s Request for Investigation into Former Delhi Police Chief Asthana

The Supreme Court rejected a dentist’s plea to prosecute former Delhi Police Chief Asthana under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Dr. Mohit Dhawan’s appeal against the Delhi High Court ruling was dismissed, citing no interference under Article 136 of the Constitution. Dhawan had accused Asthana of extortion, harassment, and document fabrication.
