Today, On 9th December, the Supreme Court will hear Manish Sisodia’s plea to modify his bail conditions, imposed in excise policy corruption cases. Sisodia seeks to ease restrictions on movement and communication. Previously, the court emphasized his right to a speedy trial after 17 months of incarceration without a case proceeding.
Today, On 23rd June, Arvind Kejriwal approached the Supreme Court to challenge an interim stay on his bail granted by the Delhi High Court in a money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy. The High Court reserved the decision on the stay request, resulting in Kejriwal’s appeal to the Supreme Court.
Today, 9th April, The Delhi HC dismissed Arvind Kejriwal’s appeal against his ED arrest, citing evidence of his involvement in concealing proceeds of crime and utilizing them for political campaigns. The court addressed his arguments, including the reliability of statements and political motivations, emphasizing that the case should be evaluated based on legal grounds, not electoral timelines or political considerations.
19th March (Tuesday): AAP leader Sanjay Singh told the Supreme Court that he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case without prior summons. The court scheduled further hearings for April 2. His legal representative argued that his arrest followed a statement by an ED witness in July 2023 without prior intimation. Singh was earlier detained by the ED on October 4 in connection with the case.
