Supreme Court Dismisses SpiceJet’s Appeal, Upheld Delhi HC Order Grounding 3 Aircraft Engines

Chandrachud, dismissed SpiceJet’s appeal against a Delhi High Court ruling requiring the airline to ground three aircraft engines due to unpaid dues. The High Court upheld that SpiceJet’s default violated a payment arrangement, emphasizing the urgency to protect the lessors’ interests.

SpiceJet Warns Delhi High Court: “Fleet Will Drop to 19 Planes If 3 Engines Are Grounded”

SpiceJet was ordered to ground three leased engines for failure to make rental payments. If enforced, the fleet of 21 aircraft will be reduced to 19, causing public inconvenience. The airline has appealed the decision, emphasizing that it will result in grounding two planes. The matter will be heard on August 20.
