Delhi Excise Policy Case | Court Dismisses BRS Leader K. Kavitha’s Default Bail Petition Following Her Withdrawal of the Plea

On Monday(5th August), a Delhi court dismissed BRS Leader K. Kavitha’s default bail petition in the Delhi Excise Policy CBI case after her counsel withdrew the plea. The special judge ruled the petition as withdrawn. In related news, the Delhi High Court dismissed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) concerning the Excise Policy matter.

[Excise Case] Delhi Court Issues Notice to CBI on K Kavitha’s Default Bail Plea

A Delhi court today issued a notice to the CBI regarding a default bail plea by K Kavitha, a leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, in the Delhi Excise policy case. The plea is based on the alleged defective charge sheet and failure of the CBI to submit a complete charge sheet within 60 days. Kavitha remains in judicial custody pending trial.

Supreme Court Requests Response from TN DVAC on ED Officer Ankit Tiwari’s Bail Plea

Today(on 1st April),The Supreme Court requested a response from Tamil Nadu DVAC on Ankit Tiwari’s default bail plea, connect it to his existing regular bail plea. Justices Surya Kant and KV Viswanathan will review the plea within four weeks. Tiwari, an ED officer, was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe. The Madras HC dismissed his statutory bail plea.
