The Delhi High Court framed criminal contempt charges against a Delhi advocate for scandalous allegations in court and a similar LinkedIn post. The court said he lowered its authority and interfered with judicial proceedings by uploading the post.
Supreme Court of India criticised a litigant after Surya Kant revealed in open court that the litigant’s father phoned his brother to question a judicial order. CJI Surya Kant remarked Stating, “Nobody dares to do this… I have dealt with such elements for 23 years.”

Under Section 15 of the Contempt of Courts Act, Advocate General approval is mandatory for private criminal contempt petitions before High Courts.

Today, On 16th October, India’s Attorney General R. Venkataramani has approved criminal contempt proceedings against Advocate Rakesh Kishore, who tried to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai in the Supreme Court last week.
