NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court issued a show cause notice to Uttar Pradesh government officials over the partial demolition of a mosque in Kushinagar, citing an alleged violation of its 13 November 2024 order.
Today, On 15th January, The Supreme Court closed the contempt case against Dr. RV Asokan, President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), for making contemptuous remarks about the court. These comments were made during a press interview while the IMA’s plea against Patanjali Ayurved, regarding misleading advertisements, was still pending. The court found no reason to proceed further with the case. Dr. Asokan had criticized the court’s actions in the ongoing legal matter.
Google is facing contempt of court for not removing a defamatory video about the Dhyan Foundation, even after orders from the Bombay High Court and Magistrate Court. The foundation says Google misled the Mumbai Sessions Court by falsely claiming the video was taken down, while proof shows it is still online. The Supreme Court on Tuesday (18th Dec) criticized state governments for attempting to regularize unauthorized constructions, emphasizing that such actions undermine urban development and environmental sustainability. It ruled that delays by officials cannot justify protecting illegal constructions and issued directives for stringent compliance with building regulations, prioritizing public welfare and accountability.
The Supreme Court ruled that the police acted “completely illegal” by filing a charge-sheet against an individual contrary to a court order prohibiting coercive action.
