Today, On 27th February, The Delhi High Court extended the stay on trial proceedings in the National Herald case. On February 22, 2021, the court issued notices to the Gandhis, late Oscar Fernandes, Suman Dubey, Sam Pitroda, and Young Indian (YI). It sought their response to Subramanian Swamy’s plea and put the trial on hold until further orders. The case remains pending as the court awaits further developments.
NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has informed the Delhi High Court that the plea filed by Sharjeel Imam, an accused in the Delhi riots case, to postpone the release of the movie 2020 Delhi is premature. The censor board has not yet granted a certificate for the film’s exhibition.
New Delhi, Jan 31: The Delhi High Court reserved its decision on petitions seeking to stop the release of the film 2020 Delhi, which is reportedly based on the northeast Delhi riots of 2020. The petitions were filed by student activist Sharjeel Imam and others. Justice Sachin Datta, who heard the matter, stated that he would examine the petitions and give an appropriate ruling.
On Wednesday (24th April): Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai agreed not to make public accusations about BJD MP Pinaki Mishra’s alleged conspiracy against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in light of an ongoing CBI inquiry, following a Delhi High Court warning. The court emphasized the seriousness of such allegations and recorded Dehadrai’s undertaking to refrain from further statements on the matter.
