The Kerala High Court Today (Aug 27) gave anticipatory bail to Malayalam rapper Vedan in a rape case filed by a young doctor. The Court said breakup of a consensual relationship should not automatically lead to criminal charges.
Pune: Two final-year students from the Indian Law Society (ILS) College, Pune, have approached the Charity Commissioner and filed a complaint with the Directorate of Higher Technical Education (DHTE) against the college, accusing it of financial exploitation and not being transparent in fee collection.

A Supreme Court lawyer has filed a complaint against him, accusing him of insulting religion and promoting obscenity. The complaint was officially submitted on February 22.
The Delhi High Court, On January 9, 2025 led by Justice Jyoti Singh, questioned the maintainability of a petition by Vijay Kumar challenging the AAP’s promise of a monthly stipend for women before the assembly elections. The petitioner argued the announcement was misleading. The petitioner had also reported this to the Election Commission, seeking urgent action.
The Lokpal has dismissed a corruption complaint against former Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, citing lack of jurisdiction. The anti-corruption Inspector clarified that sitting judges and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court do not fall within its purview under Section 14 of the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act. This provision restricts the Lokpal’s authority to probe complaints against such high-ranking judicial officials.
