Today, On 13th November, the Supreme Court questioned Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction about their reliance on Sharad Pawar’s name during the Maharashtra elections, emphasizing the need for establishing their identity. The court criticized the confusion caused by using the clock symbol without disclaimers, stressing compliance and the importance of distinguishing between the factions.
Today, On 6th November, the Supreme Court directed the Ajit Pawar-led NCP to publish a disclaimer about the ‘clock symbol’ dispute within 24 to 36 hours, clarifying its legal status. This follows an ongoing legal challenge by Sharad Pawar’s faction regarding symbol usage after the NCP split and Election Commission decisions.
The Supreme Court today (24th Oct) has granted the Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP the right to use their name and symbol while permitting the Ajit Pawar faction to retain the “clock” symbol under specific conditions. The ongoing disputes highlight the need for clarity regarding party representation and symbol allocation amid political turmoil in Maharashtra.
