The Nagpur High Court Bar Association is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a three-day event, starting on April 5th. CJI DY Chandrachud will inaugurate the celebration. The event will feature distinguished guests from the legal community, cultural showcases, and a cricket match, signifying the association’s rich legacy and future aspirations.
The Supreme Court Today (April 1st) intervened to stay criminal defamation proceedings against India Today group chief Aroon Purie and journalists Rajdeep Sardesai and Shiv Aroor. The case stemmed from a 2016 sting operation by the media outlet on an alleged cash-for-votes scandal. The trio sought relief from the SC after the Karnataka HC declined to dismiss the defamation lawsuit brought against them by former MLA BR Patil.
The Supreme Court Today (April 1st) declined to halt the Varanasi court’s decision permitting Hindu groups to conduct worship in the southern cellar of the Gyanvapi Mosque. CJI Chandrachud led bench, directed both parties to maintain the status quo, allowing both communities to engage in religious prayers. Apex court also sought response of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple trustees on the plea of the mosque management committee.

On Wednesday in a profound address during the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new Telangana High Court complex, Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud delved into the impact of social media on societal divisions and the judiciary’s pivotal role in transcending these differences. The ceremony, marking a significant milestone, took place adjacent to the Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University at Rajendranagar, heralding a new era for the legal landscape in Telangana.

Construction of the new Telangana High Court building in Rajendranagar will commence Today (March 27th), with CJI DY Chandrachud laying the foundation stone. The ceremony will take place at 5:30 pm and will be attended by High Court judges as well as various dignitaries from the state government.
The State Bank of India-SBI Today fully disclosed electoral bond details to the Election Commission, including unique alphanumeric numbers, following a Supreme Court order.
